1. The Spectral WaveFront is an important part of a healthy, modern light diet regime
Our eyes are our windows on the natural and unnatural world around us, and perform many functions beyond eyesight and vision. Our eyes also play key roles in non-image-forming visual functions such as hormone secretion, circadian rhythm regulation, and cognitive processes, all of which are extremely sensitive to what we expose our eyes to.
Our eyes are designed to absorb and use the natural full spectrum sunlight throughout our day to regulate and regenerate many systems in our body. We think of this as a Light Diet. As we move further and further away from natural full spectrum sunlight in its natural cycle, we further expose our eyes to unnatural replacements of toxic blue and unbalanced UV spectrum exposure. In the natural environment, these wavelengths are managed and used by eyes to regulate our natural systems–in the unnatural environment they overwhelm, disregulate and degenerate our ability to manage, restore and repair natural eyesight function.
2. Choose 'blue blocking' eyewear
Eyewear designed to reduce exposure to blue spectrum toxicity, light wavelengths in the 425 nanometer to 550 nanometer spectrum range. Today our screens generate our largest exposure to unbalanced blue spectrum toxicity and are a key source of visual degradation. We feel so strongly about blocking blue spectrum light from your devices that we have included 2 pairs of blue spectrum light-blocking eyewear with your WaveFront purchase.
3. Select contact lens carefully
Choose contact lens that do not entirely block natural UV spectrum light, or choose a regime of regular early morning sunlight without the contacts in your eyes.
Absorbing early morning sunlight is necessary for our body to accept signals and regulation from early morning UV rays. Morning UV spectrum is especially helpful in regulating our circadian systems.
4. Sunglasses should be worn sparingly
While avoiding looking at direct sunlight, allow your eyes to take in the spectrum around you in daylight without the hit-and-miss blocking effects of commercial sunglasses
5. Careful use of prescription or reading glasses
Our eyes are muscular, and like the other muscular systems in our body respond well to challenging, regular use.
Safe opportunities to challenge and exercise our eyes (in seated, safe circumstances) are an important part of long term eye health.
